AFIRE operates much like a private "club" and provides an exclusive platform where principals and senior executives communicate through global meetings in the US, Europe, and key cities around the world. Members have access to global real estate resources, networking opportunities, and exposure to influential US policy makers such as Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Gordon Brown, Madeleine Albright, and General Colin Powell, who spoke at recent AFIRE conferences. AFIRE also provides updates on important legislation and tax regulations and authors informative publications dedicated to ensuring that the foreign investor is as informed as the domestic investor.
AFIRE members have a common interest in preserving and promoting investment in cross border real estate. Membership is granted on a corporate basis and by invitation only, and is an acknowledgement of an institution's standing in the international real estate community.
AFIRE publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, AFIRE News, which features articles on real estate investing, market trends, tax and legal issues among other industry topics. The newsletter is available only to members.
AFIRE’s Guide to US Real Estate Investing is a primer on investing in real estate in the US written by some of the leading practitioners in the field being offered for sale in English and in Mandarin.
The Association produces an annual membership directory available only to AFIRE members. According to the organization’s by-laws, the names and addresses of members are confidential and will not be disclosed to non-members. Members Members may also use the online directory that is kept current throughout the year.
As the official voice of the foreign real estate industry in the United States and the pre-eminent global real estate organization, AFIRE represents the interests of nearly 200 investing organizations from 21 different countries. The Association is often cited as the authority on global real estate markets. Through its Annual Foreign Investor Survey, AFIRE reports on the attitudes and interests of foreign investors. Coordination with other real estate associations allows AFIRE members to expand their knowledge base.
