| Membership in AFIRE is by invitation
only. Strict guidelines for each membership category
were set by the founders. They are listed below.
Institutional
- Foreign institution or its US-controlled subsidiaries
engaged in international real estate investing.
- Examples: pension funds, insurance companies, banks,
large public and private companies
(Cost: $7,500* annually)
Associate
- Real estate investment entity incorporated in the
US, considered of institutional quality and whose
securities are publicly listed on the major stock
exchanges or are privately held.
- Foreign or US institution actively engaged in managing
and advising investment accounts for foreign institutions
that are Institutional members or would qualify as
such.
- Applicant must be sponsored by an AFIRE Institutional
member and the Executive Committee must consider applicant
to be beneficial in the furtherance of the Association's
goals.
- Limited to a percentage of the Institutional membership.
- Examples: investment banks, investment advisors,
asset/portfolio managers and REITs
(Cost: $9,000* annually)
Supporting
- Foreign or US accounting and law firms actively
engaged in representing foreign institutions that
would qualify as Institutional members.
- Limited to 25 firms.
(Cost: $9,000* annually)
Academic Circle
- Leading US real estate schools.
- Members in this category agree to make contributions
of research, speakers and published articles.
*Membership dues include a complimentary registration
for all meetings for the primary delegate of each company.
