What Can Success Yesterday Teach Us About Leadership Tomorrow?

An AFIRE Rising Leaders Discussion (Members Only)
June 30, 2020, 10:30-11:30 ET

The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow.

William Pollard (1828–1893)

Beyond KPIs, annual reviews, and team-building exercises, leadership is an exercise in continuous learning—especially as rising leaders transition into executive roles. While inexperience assumes that the actions of yesterday’s success can be applied to tomorrow’s challenges, the real lesson of leadership is that reinvention is integral to personal growth and long-term success.

In a world after COVID-19, knowing as a leader when to speak and when to listen is important than ever—and could make the difference between success today or failure tomorrow.

In this AFIRE Rising Leaders virtual event, Tal Fagin, a Certified Life Coach and the founder of Tal Fusion, LLC, will guide a discussion on how personal growth, learning, and development for today’s rising leaders is integral to team cohesion, organizational change, and future success.

This AFIRE Virtual Event is a discussion presented by AFIRE Rising Leaders, who represent a diverse group of mid-career real estate and investment leaders from AFIRE member firms.

All mid-career and executive professionals from AFIRE member firms are invited to the discussion.

Panelists:

  • Gunnar Branson, CEO, AFIRE (Moderator)
  • Lola Bellini, Director, Wafra Inc.

    • Lola Bellini is a Director at Wafra, which she joined in 2015 with more than 20 years of experience working in the real estate sector.

Previously, Ms. Bellini founded her own boutique investment and advisory businesses. She was also a Vice President and Senior Acquisitions Officer at JP Morgan Investment Management and, prior to that, she was with ING Clarion Partners. She began her career at Jones Lang Wootten Realty Advisors and, subsequently, at The Blackstone Group. Ms. Bellini earned a dual BS in Finance and International Business from New York University Stern School of Business. She is a member of WX (Women Executives in Real Estate) and Co-Chair of the ULI Mentoring Program.

A former lawyer (JD, New York University School of Law), Tal’s focus as a coach is to “work in partnership with my clients to pin-point and solve problems. Together, we devise and implement simple, time-tested strategies that will lead to a fuller, freer, more balanced and joyful life. Life coaching is not therapy. My clients are mentally healthy, accomplished, highly functioning people who simply want more out of life — whether that be in their personal relationships, their careers, their health or some combination thereof.”

ABOUT AFIRE VIRTUAL EVENTS

Launched in early 2020 as part of AFIRE’s membership events program, AFIRE Virtual Events provide a recurring digital format for AFIRE members to stay connected beyond in-person meetings.

AFIRE Virtual Events include weekly, members-only, town hall-style meetings; simple 60-minute, discussion-style sessions (hosted on BlueJeans), with AFIRE member panelists and presenters talking about current trends and ideas in an accessible, conversational format.

Other AFIRE Virtual Events outside the weekly town halls focus on specialized and timely topics, as well as supporting ongoing education and research.

AFIRE uses BlueJeans, a virtual meeting platform, for our Virtual Events. For an optimal experience, virtual meeting attendees should access BlueJeans via Google Chrome or the BlueJeans event app.

AFIRE Virtual Events are recorded and made available for members only.
